USCIS has announced that the FY 2027 H-1B cap initial registration period will open on March 4 and run through March 19, 2026 (noon ET).
During this period, employers and representatives must submit registrations through a USCIS online account and pay the $215 registration fee per beneficiary. Employers without an online account must create an organizational account in advance.
Selection notifications are expected to be issued by March 31, 2026. Please note that an H-1B cap-subject petition may only be filed if the beneficiary’s registration is selected.
What’s new for FY 2027: this cap season introduces a weighted selection process, prioritizing higher-skilled and higher-paid professionals. If registrations exceed the cap, USCIS will conduct a weighted selection among unique beneficiaries with properly submitted registrations.
