The 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) will take place in Belém, Pará, in November 2025, and thousands of visitors are expected to travel to Brazil for the global conference and its side events.

On September 1st, 2025, the Brazilian Government announced a specific electronic visa (E-Visa) for COP30, issued free of charge for official delegations and registered participants. By August, 61 countries were confirmed as participants at the conference.
When planning a trip to Brazil, it is essential to be aware of the current entry requirements, exceptionally the E-Visa for COP30 delegations will be provided for free. There, it is important to recall that since April 2025, citizens of the United States, Australia, and Canada have been required to obtain an E-Visa to enter Brazilian territory for tourism or business purposes.
E-Visa for COP30
COP30 in Belém is expected to attract over 40,000 visitors from around the world, including official delegates, media representatives, NGOs, side-event participants, and accompanying people.
This significant influx of people brings to light the importance of efficient infrastructure and migration processes, reinforcing the need to apply for the E-Visa or the special COP30 visa in advance to ensure a smooth entry into Brazil.
Who is Eligible for COP30 E-Visa?
Before starting the application, make sure you meet the eligibility criteria for the COP30 E-Visa:
· Your nationality must be among those required to obtain a visa to enter Brazil.
· You must confirm your registration through the Online Registration System (ORS) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
Once your registration is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation letter and a link to submit your COP30 E-Visa application.
The COP30 E-Visa is free of charge, and processing takes approximately 10 business days after the complete application is submitted. The visa allows multiple entries into Brazil and is valid until December 31, 2025.
Participants are encouraged to apply for their visas as early as possible, preferably at least four weeks before the opening of the conference.
What If I’m Not Officially Registered with the UNFCCC but plan to attend Side Events or Business Meetings?
Only officially accredited participants are entitled to the COP30 E-Visa. General visitors — such as businesspersons and tourists — must follow the regular entry requirements applicable to their nationality.
For citizens of the United States, Canada, and Australia, it is possible to apply for a Visitor E-Visa, reinstated in April 2025. This visa must be obtained prior to travel – usually the processing time is around 10 days – and allows legal entry into Brazil for tourism or business, including participation in side events during COP30.
The process is online, and the E-Visa may be valid for up to 10 years for visitor purposes. Each stay may last up to 90 days per entry, extendable for an additional 90 days, at the discretion of Brazilian immigration authorities.
